Pure Blue Japan XX-019-WID

Pure Blue Japan is known for it's denim full of character and great construction, and the XX-019-WID is not exception. It's a double indigo denim, so both the warp and the weft are dyed.

If you're a fan of Pure Blue Japan for longer, you will recognize the denim from the XX-007 and XX-012 jeans. This creates a very deep color of blue and naturally, fades in its own unique way. The 14 oz denim is, as you can expect from PBJ, slubby as always. This means it has a lot of irregularities, creating a textured fabric. The fades from this almost iconic denim will be intense. A proper denim collection is not complete without a pair of double-indigo jeans! Some more details from this pair:
  • 100% cotton, 14 oz
  • Made in Japan
  • 5 button fly with black coated hardware
  • Leather patch (deer)
  • Leaf logo stitched
  • Blue selvedge ID line
  • Black pocket bags
Pure Blue Japan's XX-019 fit is a relaxed tapered fit, and has gotten quite popular since it got released. It's a slim fit with roomier thighs, creating a modern but not super slim fit. We also offer this fit made from a 17,5 oz denim dyed with natural indigo.

We stock sizes 32-38 and it comes one-washed, so you can wear it straight after picking up your pair and you won't need to worry about soaking and shrinking. Buy your pair here!

New ONI Denim arrivals!

Just in time for the warmest months of the year, we've received two ONI jeans made from a light weight 12 oz denim. ONI named this denim 'Kiraku', which translates to 'light' or 'comfortable'. Exactly what you need when temperatures reach those summer temperatures.

Kiraku
We offer the ONI Kiraku denim in two fits. The Relaxed Tapered (982) has a high rise that tapers from the knee down. The Modern Regular Straight (206)

Now, ONI is obviously not the only company producing lightweight summer style jeans. What sets these jeans apart from the competition though, is the character of the denim. We're used to very slubby denim from ONI's heavier styles, like the 20 oz Secret Denim. The denim is so distinct that those with a trained eye can spot a pair of worn-in ONI's from a distance. ONI has been able to translate this character into the new 12 oz denim so you're able to wear slubby jeans with a loose weave all year round.

You can notice this light, loose weave when you hold a pair of Kiraku denim jeans to a light source. You can see the light shine through the denim, something that you won't see with heavier denim. ONI's founder, Oishi-san, used a blend of cottons sources (Peru and Pima-cotton) to design the fabric.

As always, ONI released the jeans with all their go-to details. A deer skin leather patch, branded donut buttons for the fly, high quality rivets and arcuates on the back pockets. These jeans are made in a very limited run!

Kihannen
Next to the light weight Kiraku denim, we also received a batch of the 18 oz green cast Kihannen denim. The 299 fit is a regular straight fit with a mid rise. This denim is quite different: it's a very dark, rich fabric that is sure to turn some heads.

Get yours now
We offer all jeans in sizes 31-38 in a one-washed state so you don't have to worry about shrinking. Drop by our store to try them on or order your pair online (free shipping within Europe!). We can hem your jeans to any length you like with our Union Special chain stitch service.

Jewellery by First Arrow's in Berlin

We've received our first batch of First Arrow's silver jewellery at DC4 Berlin. The brand has been around since 1996 and has been founded by silver smith Kazuya Ito. First Arrow's is based in Tokyo and inspired by Native American artwork.

Symbolism
You'll notice First Arrow's largely revolves around symbols like feathers, a symbol of power and freedom. An eagle feather is considered a blessing by the Native American. The pieces are crafted by hand in, of course, Japan. The pieces are finely detailed and will, like your denim, age with daily wear. It has taken Kazuya Ito years to master his craft to create these delicate pieces out of silver, gold and turquoise.

A rare silver quality
First Arrow's products are made out of a relatively rare metal that is 95% silver and 5% other materials (Silver 950, also known as the French 1st Standard). This is a higher quality than sterling silver you usually encounter in jewellery. This 950 silver is used to provide a better ageing effect, so that works out perfectly balanced with a pair of Japanese jeans.

New ONI Denim arrivals

The perfect summer denim chino
Wearing 20oz+ denim during the warmer months of the year can be daunting. Switch to a pair of 11.9oz ONI trousers instead: you still get to work on fading some great denim while maintaining cool. They're made out of 100% cotton selvedege denim (right hand twill) and have black enamel coated steel buttons. We offer them as in a one-washed state so you don't have to worry about shrinkage.

Available in sizes 31-38 (€190)

ONI 22oz Regular Straight Natural Indigo
This pair of jeans captures the essence of ONI: heavy, slubby denim dyed with natural indigo. The low tension weave of the denim makes the heavy cloth comfortable to wear. Arcuates embroidered on the back pockets, copper hardware and a deer skin leather patch make these an instant classic.

The jeans come in a one-washed state as well. Please check the sizing chart as they tend to run on the smaller side.

Available in sizes 32-38 €320

Back in Berlin: Pure Blue Japan

Pure Blue Japan makes a comeback at DC4! This well-loved brand is known for its slubby denim with very characteristic fades. The small leaf on the right back pocket is a mark for quality. This is what we got in our first delivery:

Pure Blue Japan XX-019 (Relax Tapered)
Want a bit more room in the thigh while maintaining a modern silhouette? Look no further: the XX-019 is your cut. This comfortable fit has a bit more lenght in the rise, roomier thighs and an aggresive taper towards the leg opening. As expected from PBJ, the 13.8oz denim is full of character, promising great fades. It's made in small batches, so don't sleep on your size.

Pure Blue Japan XX-18oz-013 (Slim Tapered)
On of it's more popular cuts (based on the 011) is now also available in a heavier 18oz version. It's a slim fit with a modern taper from the knee down.

Pure Blue Japan KS-013 (Slim Tapered)
'KS' stands for 'knubbed selvegde', which means the denim is slubby. You really have to see and feel this fabric in person to truly understand the character of this fabric: even for PBJ standards, this is something special. The denim promises strong vertical fades.

Pure Blue Japan SS5010 T-shirt
Ever got fades on a t-shirt? Now's your chance with the SS5010 indigo dyed t-shirt. It features a round neck and is made out 100% cotton. Since it being one-washed, you don't have to worry about shrinkage.

Studio D'artisan has arrived!

We’ve welcomed a few new brands in the store since we’ve reopened DC4. The latest being Studio D’artisan, a brand from Osaka that’s already been around since 1979.

Many denim heads will recognise a pair of SdA’s from afar by the subtle tab on the coin pockets, swirly arcuates on the back pockets and - of course - the little piggies on the leather patch. For our first batch, we’ve received a total of four different models: the SD-D07, SD-307, SD-507 and one ladies pair, the SDL-703.

Now, all the mens jeans we’ve received are the same fit: slim and tapered, so the silhouette is very modern and flattering. The big differences are in the fabric. Let’s have a closer look.

Studio D’artisan SD-D07
Not only ONI Jeans know how to get natural indigo in their line-up, Studio D’artisan is all too familiar as well. The beautiful blue tone of this medium weight denim (15oz) is really something special. Only offered in a raw (non-washed) state.

Studio D’artisan SD-307
Looking for something heavier? Opt for the SD-307 with its 18.5oz denim. No natural indigo, so you can expect faster fading. The original arcuates on the back pockets make this an instant classic. We offer this in both raw and one-washed.

Studio D’artisan SD-507
This is the lightest denim of the bunch with 12oz denim, making it perfect for warmer days. The denim is woven on old looms, giving it tons of character - don’t let the weight fool you. Comes both in raw and one-washed.

All the pairs have these features:

  • Unsanforized cotton denim (so expect shrinkage on the raw pairs, keep this in mind when ordering - see the size charts for help)
  • Button fly construction with selvedge details
  • Heavy duty pockets bags
  • Thick leather patches
  • Copper rivets

Studio D’artisan SDL-703
Next to the Samurai Jeans Geisha, we’ll be offering a second pair of ladies jeans: the SDL-703. The jeans come in a one-washed state, so you don’t have to worry about shrinkage. The denim is a nice medium weight 14oz. The fit is slim straight, slightly tapered and has a low rise with a button fly.
