Masters of Indigo: interview with Pure Blue Japan

When we were in Japan last November, we had the pleasure to visit Pure Blue Japan. Of course we took advantage of the situation and interviewed Iwaya-san, the founder of the company. Check out the interview after the break!

24oz Pure Blue Japan XX-005 & XX-007

Pure Blue Japan, the creators of some of the most slubby denim in the world, have now developed super heavy duty denim: 24oz. Yes, that's heavier than Iron Heart jeans. Two of the most popular models will be released in this denim: the XX-005 and the XX-007. Both fit the same, the only difference is that the 007 is dyed with indigo on both sides. We soon expect these amazing jeans at the store.

Faded jeans: Pure Blue Japan XX-007

Look at these nicely worn in Pure Blue Japan XX-007, worn for 7 months. It's a pretty fast fading denim and very, very slubby. The texture of the denim Pure Blue Japan uses is simply amazing. The XX-007 is a slim fit, with both the warp and weft (outside and inside) dyed in indigo.

Highlighted: Joe McCoy

Joe McCoy, a brand that's part of The Real McCoys' empire, is all about reproducing vintage work- and sportswear. The quality of the Joe McCoys products are impeccable, as they are made by the best craftsmen in Japan. The Joe McCoy sublabel was only available for four years (1997-2001) but it has been revived.

The Real McCoys was founded in 1990, and became famous for reproducing apparel from the World War 2 era. In the US, stating that something is 'the real mccoy', is a figure of speech saying that it's 'the real deal'.

Satan's choice if he'd wear Japanese denim

Iron Heart has created a brand new denim just for this pair of jeans: the IH-666S, The Devil's Fit. This super slim fitting pair is made of 18oz slubby denim. They are unsanforized, meaning that you'll have to soak them before you wear them, as they'll shrink to the tagged size. The back pockets have been lined so your wallet doesn't eat right through the denim. It also features some nice details, like a selvage fly construction.

Available in sizes 29 - 36 in our online shop.

New shirts: Joe McCoy & Iron Heart

We got two new shirts available. First up is a classic herringbone western shirt by Iron Heart. Available here in sizes M, L, XL and XXL.

The second shirt, by Joe McCoy, is pretty spectacular. It's made of a lightweight wabash (micro dots) fabric, that you have to see in person to fully appreciate. Available here in sizes M, L and XL.

Lessons from a tailor.

This is a beautiful, inspirational video about Martin Greenfield. He began working as a floorboy at GGG Suit Factory in 1947. He then advanced to blind stitcher, fitter, supervisor and so on, until he was able to buy the business in the 1970s. He made suits for tons of famous people, including Bill Clinton, and even made the suits featured in Boardwalk Empire. Watch the short documentary in which he shares his great view on clothing.

Iron Heart DC4001: proper rock star jeans

We got an e-mail from Mikel Erentxun, who is a great musician from Spain. He told us he was proudly wearing a pair of Iron Heart DC4001 while performing on stage at a concert in Valladoilid, Spain. The jeans are a little hard to see in the picture, but the massive leather patch instantly reveals its identity. Thanks for sharing this with us Mikel, you sure have a great sense of style.
