Faded: Iron Heart 634SR

This pair of Iron Heart 634SR's have been worn for 8 months. They got a soak when they were new, so the extremely heavy 23oz denim wouldn't destroy the threads holding the jeans together. After 8 months, they received a hand wash.

The Iron Heart 634SR was created to celebrate Iron Hearts 5 year anniversary. As you can see in these pics, they fade in a very typical way, different than the regular 21oz denim.

Belts - Atelier LaDurance vs. Iron Heart

Here are two of my favorite belts: a 4,5 year old Atelier LaDurance and an Iron Heart belt, worn for a little over a month. The ALD is hand made in France from saddle leather. I think the patina it has developed over the years is just stunning. It started out vegetable tanned, while the Iron Heart wasn't tanned at all. Of course the Iron Heart is made in Japan, from thick cowhide leather. Check out more pics after the break.

DC4's Denim Hall of Fame

Over here at DC4 we're always drooling over beautifully faded jeans. Whether they are Japanese repro's or the real vintage deal, we love some great hues of blue. If you got a pair of jeans you'd like the world to see, please send some clear pictures to blog@dc4.de and we'll feature them on the blog!

Please make sure the pictures represent the true color of the jeans as best as you can. Also provide some information about how long they've been worn, how many times you've washed them and of course the brand and model.

A different take on jeans

I got a great present on Christmas morning: a painting of me and my girlfriend by Quint Clyde (the birds are his signature piece of work). Of course, I'm pictured wearing jeans. Did any of you get denim related gifts?

Dinner with Dry Bones, Self Edge and Ironheart.co.uk

On our Japan trip we had a great dinner with the guys from Dry Bones. Although it was a dinner officially, it’s safe to say this was a Japanese equivalent of the German Oktoberfest. Also, the denim otaku couples from Self Edge, Kiya and his wife Demitra, and Giles and his wife Paula from Ironheart.co.uk were there! Pics were taken at a restaurant in Tokyo.

Minetoshi and Daniel. It's pretty clear in which culture beer has played an important role for a longer time.

Minka: a farmhouse in Japan

"Minka is a short documentary film about a remarkable Japanese farmhouse and the memories it contains. In 1967, an American journalist and his adopted Japanese son rescued the ancient house from the snow country of Japan, and their lives were forever changed. Minka is an intimate story about place, architecture, memory and the meaning of home." Have a look at the trailer:

Faded jeans: Pure Blue Japan XX-008

Here's a fine example of a pair of Pure Blue Japan's non-slubby jeans, worn for a year. It's a slim straight model, made out of 13.5oz denim. As you can see, PBJ can also produce amazing vintage fades.

Macbook nightstand

You probably recognize this problem: you're in bed, late at night and after reading Tolstoj you decide to read the news and check some denimblogs. Obviously you don't want to scatter your precious little Macbook on the floor for you to step on the next morning, so here's a nice solution: the Macbook Nightstand. It has a soft interior so it won't get scratched.

Influencers

Check out this short documentary 'Influencers'. It shows you inspiration is everywhere: countries, cities, around the internet but most of all: other people, the 'influencers'. Creativity can rapidly evolve into trends with a global audience. The movie shows how people get influenced by others and how their beliefs are sometimes spread like a virus.

Just received: Iron Heart

A fresh batch of Iron Heart products are now available in our online shop.

Now that the temperatures are dropping, you should arm yourself against the cold. Iron Heart's Melton Wool CPO Jackets will help you in your battle. They're available in red and gray.

And as you know, a man without the proper accessories is not a man at all. Complete your outfit with some amazing cordovan leather, like the oxblood wallet (also available in black). With five card holder slots, a zippered coin pocket and all the pieces being hand sewn using goat tendons for construction in Japan, this is quite the amazing piece.

We also have the famous Ultra Heavy Flannel in gray now.

New stuff by The Flat Head

We just got some new gear in from The Flat Head, perfect for fall. First up are gray and black woven caps in beautiful waffle-fabrics, based on 1960's patterns.

Next is a classic piece every denim lover should have - the Type III denim jacket. When made by the standards of The Flat Head, it's a jacket that will be your friend for many years to come.

We also received a pile of the new slim straight 1001 jeans, which are more detailed than the first batch. Don't forget we also offer chain stitching service now, in case you need your pair hemmed.

Last but not least is a 1940's style western shirt made out of 10oz selvage denim, The Flat Head 7001.

Chain Stitch Hemming Service at DC4

From today, we can offer you the finest chain stitching. Hemming your jeans is no longer an issue due to our Union Special 43200, which is already decades old. The machine has even been used in the Levi Strauss factory in North Carolina up to the 1950's!

The chain stitch on the hems of your jeans will help develop the great 'roping' effect that you see often on vintage jeans. It's also possible to bring in your own jeans that still need to be hemmed!

DC4 x Iron Heart: DC4001

DC4 Berlin is very proud to present the Iron Heart DC4001, the first collaboration with Iron Heart, which will be available at Self Edge, Iron Heart UK and of course, the DC4 webshop. Note that the pairs being sold at DC4 are signed personally by Haraki-san!

It's made out of Iron Heart's famous 21oz denim, hauled from Zimbabwe, and stitched together with thick poly-cotton thread so the jeans will stay in great shape for a long time.

Check out the full, very detailed list of specifications and loads of pictures after the jump!
